PATRIOTISM - 4th Degree & Color Corps
“One nation under God”

Every K of C Council meeting begins with a prayer and the Pledges of Allegiance to our beloved Country.
On April 30, 1951, the Board of Directors of the Knights of Columbus adopted a resolution to amend the Pledge of Allegiance to add “under God” after the words “one nation” when they recited the Pledge before each meeting. Over the next two years the idea spread throughout the K of C and our country. The phrase “under God” was incorporated into the Pledge of Allegiance on June 14, 1954 by a Joint Resolution of Congress.

Dedicated to God and Country, members of the 4th Degree often
serve as an honor guard in the Color Corps at civic & religious services as well as honoring deceased Brother Knights at wakes and funerals. The presence of the Color Corps at various activities & services has brought worldwide recognition to the Knights of Columbus.
